During the day...everythings okay. I get small fears of approaching people but thats about it.

At night, when im trying to sleep i cant help but think and sometimes convince myself that i have either dead people walking around my room, or a psycho killer outside my window.

I sleep with a knife under my pillow and devise little escape plans and what i would do if someone just smashes through my window...or barged through my door. Sometimes i can pretty much feel someone standing over me...then i hear something move and get really freaked out at the slightest sounds and cant sleep.

I keep another knife in my draw and my mum once found her biggest kitchen knife there...

im scared of getting attacked by psychos...maybe im the psycho!

what should i do?

  1. sleeping pills =D

  2. You have severe anxiety, and you need to have a doctor get you on a prescription such as Xanax.  When I was in my early 20s, I had the same type of problem.  I just started living on my own and I would freak out just walking down the street if a car backfired.  I would hit the deck thinking it was a gun shot.  At night, when I was home alone I would have panic attacks because I was also paranoid someone would break in.

It had a lot to do with my environment and a lot to do with nerves.  But those two things are easy to fix.  You may find yourself feeling safer if you change rooms or start an anxiety medication.  Just talking with your doctor and hearing his advice could really turn this around instantly and he can give you a different perspective on how to cope.

Do me a favor:  Get rid of the knives before you accidentally hurt yourself.  They are not necessary and if a "killer" is going to come in, threatening him with a knife is a) pointless -it does not scare them and b) could cause him to turn the weapon on you.  At least get a bat because it would be more effective and you are less likely to get hurt like that.  Anxiety can cause you to really freak out.

  3. oh.OCD maybe. but you should a therapist. but its okay. those are some pretty strange things. but you never know. They could happen. your not psycho. also for safety measures you should not not keep a knife under your pillow. keep it in your draw if you must or if you feel better back in the kitchen

  4. You are not a psycho. But you do have a fear which will ruin you if you do not seek help. you need to talk your fears through with your doctor. They can refer you on to a trained counselor that can help you. I do believe that these things can be brought on by an event that has happened in the past or maybe you've watched a scary film that has played on your mind. either way you need to seek help. Good luck.

  5. I'm not a doctor, but you may have paranoid schizophrenia.

I would definitely go see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

  6. there 1 way go to the couch and sleep on it

  7. Some times we get so caught up in the horror stories on the news, themes in violent movies  that after a while we can act and feel as you do.

I stopped watching the news before or during dinner, try to stay away from movies about rape, serial killers etc.

And do not read the paper.

It is good to be wise about how to protect yourself and take precautions at home and when shopping.

Unless you live in a violent neighborhood, it seems you could reduce some of your anxiety by omitting some of the above mentioned events.

I am interested in the news, and listen to talk radio, of course, it is what I want to hear.

I learned it is not good to listen to the news or see the bad movies before going to bed, so I read.or fine a more tame program on TV.

It is not easy to wean away from the violence, could you take up some activities that would get you around others, not co-workers, who have interests similar to yours.

Hope you do well, fear can internalize to an ulcer and to painful.
