  1. do not expect too much from penn state, they probably teach evolution as well,..although they may be in contact with wandering demons, claiming to be at the light,..

    i e a e,..

    unificationist,..

  2. I think it makes for entertaining TV (at least for a while).

I think it unfortunate that no scientist have offered their services and advice to improve investigative techniques and controls but that would make less interesting TV.

The new show certainly shows that some people take a more religious approach to investigations than other groups.

I don't think this is wrong but I wonder if the people know when they call for help.

  3. I've only seen a couple of episodes, but as of yet, I don't care too much for it. It's entirely too Christian-based for my liking (I am Pagan in spirituality) and it seems very scripted. (a.k.a. fake)

The team director, Ryan, is extremely arrogant and has such a dry personality. He tries to come across as knowledgeable, but in actuality, he isn't. Most people who study the occult know that once you have a name of a demon you can gain power over it. Ryan claims that if you speak its name, you actually give it MORE power. In my experience the latter is not true.

In short, I just don't see myself becoming a fan of this show...

  4. If you're just simply looking to be creeped out, then I think the show is a plus.  On the other hand, I still am skeptical, that is, I'm cautiously skeptical.  As for other shows such as "Ghost Hunters" and "Most Haunted", relatively speaking, they don't seem to have much credibility with me.  "Ghost Hunters" for one, if I'm not mistaken, used to be a bunch of Roto Rooter guys.  Wow, such impressive credintials (sarcasm).  They seem to masquerade as a objective paranormal research team, but to me it seems a bit suspicious that they always investigate places with all the lights conveniently turned off.  I mean, I've seen cases where that just wasn't an issue.  And why is it they always carry a camera around, instead of placing cameras in strategic places where most paranormal activity was reported to have happened.  When they carry the cameras around, with the night vision on, or what have you, it amounts to nothing more than another "Blair Witch Project" sequence, shaky and dizzying footage, that doesn't allow the audience to see everything that's happening.  On top of that, "Ghost Hunters" focuses more on the s*x symbol hipness and melodrama among thier team members.  Oh and "Most Haunted" uses the same gimics...complete darkness, incoherent sounds, shaky camera movements and relatively inconclusive evidence.

"Paranormal State" at the very least, has footage in lighted rooms and does psychological profiles of peope who are supposedly being haunted.  They also involve grief counselors to address the discord among families that are being haunted, because those cases usually have something more than ghosts as their problems.  Furthermore, they involve older and more experienced paranormal investigators, so I don't get the sense that they are trying to be hip, s**y, and all tattooed up like "Ghost Blunders" (Hunters).  The "State" also tackles each case with spiritual (yes, Christian...if you don't like that, don't complain.  Just change the channel) and legitimate scientific research techniquest.  So they seem more balanced.  That being said, it would be nice to see all these shows.."Paranormal State", "Ghost Hunters", and "Most Haunted", produce more compelling evidence and not this "maybe/maybe not...you decide, evidence".

I've seen more compelling evidence on oldies like "Unsolved Mysteries" and the newer show "Unexplained Mysteries".

  5. I think its OK.  I watched it the other night, and it kinda freaked me out.

  6. i really like it. I am always skeptical of the familys they check out at first though. Like the one on monday.

  7. I think of it as pretty good considering that they don't know any more than the most of you.

They are correct in that what was going on with the people (negative) drew negative = deamons who harrassed them.

I believe that they should have used In The Name Of Jesus be gone.

  8. its a sham

  9. I think anyone who calls it a "hit" is shilling for it.

  10. It's infinitely better than "Most Haunted" with that blonde lady who won't shut her enormous piehole. How can you find any ghosts when your voice is a constant 130 decibels?

  11. loved it!

  12. I like it enough to watch it...but I wish the main guy had more personality...and would take those stupid earrings out of his ears.  I'm also trying to figure out if he is Catholic or Episcopalian....anyone know???
