They start with as soon as I get to where I am almost asleep but still semi conscious (aware of my outer surroundings but right on the brink of sleep) I start having flashes of very disturbing images of things that I either find completely repulsive or very upsetting. After that I feel like I am being pulled into a sleep state that I cannot come out of. I get so lethargic I cannot force my way out of it. After this happens I feel as though I am being held down by a very strong immovable force. I put all my strength into fighting off this feeling as it makes me feel helpless & is very scary. When I start trying to make myself come out of this I become completely paralyzed. My fists/feet clench & I literally cannot move at all for anywhere from 45 seconds to 3-4 minutes. When I finally force myself out of this I propel upright out of bed and am gasping for air as I have not been able to breathe the entire time the attack has been happening. It is very real and scary. any ideas?
