Since the paranormal really isn't measurable you can't apply any criteria for eliminating potential entries.  What that means is in fairness the encyclopedia would have to include every single paranormal claim ever made.  In addition, since paranormal events aren't predictible or repeatable you have as many versions of (for example) a ghost as there are people who have perceived a ghost.

  4. You want the subject treated objectively without pro or con bias. Not  a skeptics encyclopedia or a tainted UFO nuts writing.

This one ( The Paranormal Encyclopedia, by Prometheus Books is  critical short essay form by contributors from the fields of science, theology, philosophy, magic, history, and general academic scholarship. Each topic is treated objectively without pro or con bias, and reflects research in psychokinesis, astrology, alchemy, reincarnation, and even the Bermuda Triangle. Also, notable personages in paranormal phenomena are examined  and historical or "religious" movements, such as new age thinking and theosophy.

  5. Encyclopedia of the paranormal: a complete guide to the unexplained, edited by Lynn Picknett. (London: Macmillan, 1990).

Harper's encyclopedia of mystical & paranormal experience, edited by Rosemary Guiley. (San Francisco: HarperSanFrancisco, 1991).
