So the heat is on in my house. When my niece was over she laughed and stared at the hallway which nothing was there, but a vaccum. I walked over there & it was extremely cold like Antartica and then walking away it was warm. After she left I went back there and the extreme cold was gne & the area was warm, but then 40mins later it was freezing again. JUST IN THAT SPOT. Is it paranormal? I know some investigators base on temps.

  1. No it is not paranormal.  It means you aren't getting the best circulation.  The thermometers used by TAPS don't really mean anything.  There is a theory--that is completely, utterly unsubstantiated--that spirits absorb heat to build up energy.  Or something like that.  This really isn't even a theory (in the scientific sense) because there is no evidence whatsoever to support the idea.  Somebody just made it up.  Now it's repeated as if it's fact or as if the idea has some credence to it when it most certainly doesn't.

How can they say how a ghost forms if they can't even establish the existence of ghosts to begin with?  Answer: they can't, so they wander around with fancy equipment, trying to look busy.

  2. Also try to see if there is an EMF "bubble" in the same area, you will need an EMF meter to check this.

you can get a cheap one here....

And this site tells how they work.

Or see if you have a paranormal investigation group in your area to help.

  3. It could be-- BUT-- you can't base a whole decision on just that.

There would be a series of events--- and you'd really need equipment to test the theories out.  Have their been any other unexplained happenings?

Also, w/ a thorough investigation you can never base true tempature changes on perception.  Because the imagination can assume a lot.  It really needs to be done w/ a therometer.

If you'd like more info, I've provided a link below.

  4. Temperature changes are an indication of paranormal activity, but you must rule out other possibilities such as drafts, ac vents and other natural causes before concluding that it is paranormal. When a cold spot is encountered try taking some Polaroid pics or digital pics. Do some research on the house. How old is it? Has there been any deaths there? Is it built on or near a battleground or burial site? Any limestone deposits? What time of day do these occurrences happen? Do you have a sense of being watched when in that area? There are many factors to be considered so if you feel strongly that there is something paranormal going on , call a reputable paranormal investigative group and let them help you. These investigations should never be done alone.

  5. I have a feeling your niece is attracting some sort of spirit or entity.

There is really not a better explanation than that. If there was something wrong with the air condition, it would be constant.

Ask her what she was laughing and staring at.

  6. it could be, but since it is winter, I would check for any drafts and make sure the insulation such as above that spot in the attic is in place.  Check into everything to rule anything normal, and if this continues, then by all means, have your place checked out

  7. It could be. But I would try to eliminate more mundane explanations such as a draft first. Good luck with finding out.

  8. If that's true...I'm going to be in a "cold spot" all night!! I'm in Florida and it's going to be 19 degrees..Brrrrrrrrrrr. We're never prepared for this!!

Why didn't you ask her what she was looking at and laughing at? Ask her next time you see her...please.

I've walked through cold spots too..outside...and it was summertime. I wonder why when some spirits appear the temp makes you feel cold..but when others appear..they have a warm feeling.

  9. Alot of investigators believe that in order for a spirit to manifest it needs to draw energy from anywhere it can and one belief is that they draw energy from the heat in the air thus creating a "cold spot". but before you can go and say that its a paranormal occurrence you need to check for things like drafts from vents, doors, or windows.

  10. Not nessessarily

    1) many things can cause a draft, and none of them are paranormal.

    2) I am assuming your niece is a toddler or younger.........They do that. They point in random directions and giggle and laugh at apparently nothing all the time. Its normal.

  11. hmmm..... i question this spot .... Yes i agree with alot of people it is winter but it does depend upon the location which you live . you can go to the store and get a non - contact thermometer cheap like for example a hardware store will have them.. here are so many possibilities of why temp drops can happen (a/c, Heaters, windows etc.) check your insulation of your home such as was it properly placed when the home was built or here if you got it replaced recently. i wouldn't call anything paranormal unless you knowfor sure it can' t be backed up by science or natural reasons!
