What's the difference?

I'm writing a book and I can't decide whether the people in the town should be called Supers or Paras for short.

It was origninally supers (supernatural) but that reminded me too much of The Incredibes so I went with Paras instead but I just want to know if there's too big of a difference (my story has werewolves, witches, necromancers etc etc, it's a contemporary fantasy, so NO elves, orcs, Lord of the Rings type stuff)

  1. I've always considered the words to be almost interchangeable.  However, I like Paras better than Supers for your people.  Super is just too common and has too many uses.

    Paranormal Definitions

Phenomena which seem to defy the known laws of science.

Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation: such paranormal phenomena as telepathy; a medium's paranormal powers.

    Supernatural Definitions

Of or relating to existence outside the natural world. Attributed to a power that seems to violate or go beyond natural forces.

not existing in nature or subject to explanation according to natural laws; not physical or material

  2. there is no difference, it is just another way to describe unexplained events.

  3. paranormal---things the cannot be explained

supernatural---is when someone has and ability..like a sixth sense

  4. Paranormal- Outside of normal experience. Not readily explained. If you're not lazy, though, and you investigate enough, you normally explain it.

Supernatural- Above natural forces. Something other than the laws of nature like gravity, electricity, etc.

  5. I dont think there is much of a difference..  But I feel Paranormal is more related to gosts and super natural would be like superheros, super strength, laser eyes, etc...
