  1. 1.  The Establishment Clause.  The government may not establish an 'official' national religion, recognized, endorsed and supported by government.

    2.  The Free Exercise Clause.  The government may not make laws that interfere with the free exercise of religion, in other words any person may have any beliefs and practice or worship as he likes and the government can't interfere.

  2. Excuse me!  I could be wrong here, but  "Half" is one of two equal parts. "Halve" means to 'cut' something into two equal parts.

The US First Amendment is composed of 1.) freedom of speech, 2.) freedom of the press, 3.) free exercise of religion, and 4.) the right of assembly and 5.) to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

There are no clauses to this amendment-- just parts: five, of which 'free exercise of religion'-- is one.

  3. The first is freedom FROM religion.  In America, nobody can force you to join a church, or practice any certain kind of religion or religious practice, like the Christian version of Christmas.

The second is freedom to join ANY church, or to practice any religious rite or ritual, and to be free from governmental interference.
