Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says that he cannot see a future for Andy Carroll at Liverpool and insists that the striker should leave the club this summer.
Andy Carroll has been unable to continue the goal scoring form that made him such a smash hit at Tyneside. The striker moved to Liverpool in the 2010/2011 winter transfer window in an astonishing £35 million deal. Before his move, Carroll had managed 80
appearances for Newcastle and scored 31 goals for them.
However, he was unable to match his form and has only managed to score 6 goals in 42 appearances for Liverpool. The striker has struggled to find the back of the net, and now a future at Anfield looks bleak with the arrival of Brendan Rodgers from Swansea
City.
It is understood that Rodgers does not see Carroll as part of his plans. The former Swans boss is known to prefer free-flowing and attacking football. Carroll primarily operates as a target man and is considered surplus to Liverpool’s current requirements
by the new manager.
The striker is therefore linked with a move away from Anfield this season, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham understood to be keeping an eye on him. Newcastle had approached Liverpool with a loan offer for the English striker, but Liverpool had rejected
the move right away.
Alan Pardew is still interested in Carroll and hopes for his return to the Magpies. The Newcastle boss believes that Carroll will leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 this summer, and admitted that he is keeping a close eye on his situation.
Speaking to English press, Pardew said:
“It’s a delicate situation. It’s a transfer that I’m not particularly involved in, and it’ll stay like that.”
“I think that it’ll still be a board level thing between Liverpool and whichever club takes Andy.”
“I think that the writing is on the wall that Andy will go out of there in the summer. We’re just keeping a close eye on it.”
Newcastle legend and former striker extraordinaire http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Shearer had also spoken about how he hopes for Carroll to return to Tyneside earlier this week. Pardew agrees with the former Newcastle great and added:
“I thought that Alan Shearer’s comments were correct.”
“There aren’t many clubs that Andy Carroll can go to. He needs to be a success this time.”
