Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has said that Liverpool must accept a loss on striker Andy Carroll if Liverpool wish to sell him in the summer.
The former Newcastle striker moved to Anfield in the 2010/2011 winter transfer window in a surprise and shocking transfer that was worth an astounding £35 million.
The former Swansea City boss is known for his attacking and free-flowing football style. It is widely understood that Carroll is not part of the manager’s plans and this has alerted Newcastle United who are interested in bringing the striker back to Tyneside.
Initially, Newcastle wanted to loan Carroll, but their offer was rejected by Liverpool straight away. Newcastle then also considered buying the striker for a fraction of the £35 million for which they had sold him.
Liverpool are understood to be unwilling to loan the striker out and are interested in selling him to interested clubs for at least £20 million. Fulham and newly promoted West Ham United have been linked with the tall forward, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will be keen
on selling him as soon as possible.
Pardew is confident that Liverpool will be unable to sell the striker for anything more than the amount they value him at. Pardew claims that the club has no choice but to accept a ‘huge loss’ on Carroll.
Carroll operates primarily as a target man, and Rodgers is understood to be looking for strikers who can adapt to the pace and quickness of the football style he had so succesfully incorporated at Swansea.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is aware of this, and speaking to English radio, he said:
"John Madejski used to say to me about certain players, 'Just wipe your nose and move on', and I think Liverpool are going to have to do that with Andy.”
"I think it was obvious as soon as Brendan went into Liverpool that Andy's time was going to have to be somewhere else. “
"It's a lot of money for Mike [Ashley, Newcastle owner], although we'll obviously be getting a big upside in terms of what we sold him for, and we've got three great strikers here already. But of course as the manager, I want the best players I can get."
