Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is confident that his team will recover their form and bounce back after two successive league home losses.
The Magpies have seriously underperformed this season and so far they have miserably failed to replicate last season’s impressive form that saw them finish fifth in the Premier League.
Newcastle are now without a win in their last four games, and need a result badly in their next few matches. The Tyneside outfit will host Maritimo in the Europa League this Thursday before travelling to St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday to face Southampton in
the Premier League. They then have two league games to play next week, and face a congested fixture list.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew admits that the pressure is growing on the senior players who have been missing from the side on account of injuries and suspensions. However, the manager remains confident that the results will come. He said:
“We’ve had a bit of a dip and we’re sad about that, sad for our fans. We have to come out fighting and we want to do that on Thursday night against Maritimo.”
“Southampton got a great result at the weekend against QPR. But for us on Sunday, it’s a big game and we need to pick up some points.”
“I think it will help if we have our senior players back and hopefully we’ll have one or two back this week and maybe a couple more next week. So that will arm me and make the side stronger.”
Newcastle have been without many of their first team players this season on account of injuries and other setbacks. Ryan Taylor and Haris Vuckic have been sidelined for the remainder of the season, while Fabricio Coloccini and Cheick Tiote had been suspended
following red cards.
The latest blow that was dealt to the team’s chances was the news about star midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 national team last week, and is expected to undergo surgery which will keep him out
till the next year. This leaves Newcastle short-staffed in the midfielder department, and seriously undermines their hopes of finishing in the top 4.
