Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has apologized for pushing the referee’s assistant in last week’s home game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle took on Tottenham Hotspur at the Sports Direct Arena on Saturday and went on to win the game courtesy of two goals by Senegalese striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 had equalized for Tottenham, but Ben Arfa won and converted
a penalty in the second half which sealed all three points for the Magpies.
The manager looked visibly frustrated as his side conceded the goal which cancelled out Ba’s opener. Newcastle kept on pushing for the winner, and came close thrice, but were unable to score. Pardew’s annoyance increased in the second half as the referee
did not give the decision to award a throw-in to his side and let play continue which almost saw Tottenham carve up a chance.
Pardew pushed the assistant referee in protest and was immediately sent off to the stands for the remainder of the game by Martin Atkinson.
After the game however, the manager was quite embarrassed by his behaviour and was quick to apologize for it. He was quick to admit his mistake, especially after he publicly urged his team to act professionally and as gentlemen before the build up to the
game.
Speaking after the victory against Tottenham, he said:
“It was ridiculous really. I have to apologize publicly and I have gone to see him (Kirkup) already. He was right in front of me and I thought the ball was out and shoved him.”
"There was me pleading to all of my players this week to behave, follow the Olympic spirit. And then I let myself down. I can only apologize."
Pardew then went on to praise his side for winning their Premier League opener and hailed the side’s character and spirit. The manager has also accepted the FA charge against improper conduct and pleaded guilty.
"We've written a letter on my call on what I thought happened at the weekend.”
"We will go to see the FA and see what punishment will come."
