Newcastle United manager has backed striker Papiss Demba Cisse to find the back of the net against Manchester United as the Magpies travel to Old Trafford tonight, and insists that the player will find his goal scoring form soon enough and prove
his worth.
The manager has backed his goal shy striker and has urged him to rediscover his goal scoring prowess as Newcastle prepare to take on Manchester United. The manager has backed the player to prove that he can be better than last season, and find the back of
the net more often.
It has been almost a year since the Senegalese international moved to Tyneside from Freiburg. Cisse joined Newcastle last season in the winter transfer window, and made his debut against Aston Villa, scoring on his debut.
The player then went on to finish the season with 13 goals in only 14 games, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 only scored once when he returned from international duty for the African Cup of Nations.
This season however has proved to be a different story as Demba Ba has claimed the central striking position with Cisse having to make do with a spot on the right flank. The player has only scored twice this season, while Ba already has 11 goals to his name,
second to Michu and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 with 13 and 12 goals respectively.
Pardew is confident that the 27-year old will still have a crucial role in Newcastle’s campaign this season, and is looking forward to when injured players http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 return to the team. The manager is also looking to make signings in
the January transfer window, and is hoping for Cisse to rediscover his form.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Papiss is a victim of our injury problems. Without Ben Arfa and Cabaye we have lacked quality in the last third and have not created a lot of moments for him to score.”
“Hopefully we can create more moments for him and he will start scoring goals soon. I can confidently predict Papiss will score more goals in the second half of the season. In some respects playing right has helped his game and ball retention.”
