Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew believes the club’s new sponsorship deal with Wonga will help them push for a top 4 finish in the Premier League.
The Toon boss insists that the sponsorship is the best deal the club has ever had, and is confident that it will add stability and be crucial to the club’s long-term planning, future and success.
The four-year deal is reportedly worth £8 million annually, and includes sponsorship for the club’s jerseys and will provide investment and funding for Newcastle’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 set up and training facilities and infrastructure.
Revenues and finances from the deal will also help boost the club’s transfer funding and allow it to be more competitive and effective in the transfer market. This is an area where the club has managed to attract players but lost out on financial standing
and power.
However, the deal has been criticised by many because of Wonga’s questionable business model. The company operates as an online loan business, with interest as its main driving force. This has been viewed with doubtful eyes by most of the club’s Muslim players.
Many of the club’s supporters as well as the players however, have welcomed the deal as it restores the stadium back to its former name; St. James’ Park. Almost a year ago, owner Mike Ashley had bought the stadium’s licensing and naming rights, terming it
The Sports Direct Arena.
This decision was met with disapproval and general resentment as many fans were not happy with the renaming. Most of them though it to be a stain on the club’s history and tradition, and thought the owner’s presence was not healthy for the club’s future.
Manager Alan Pardew is especially delighted by the deal, and believes that it will help Newcastle finish in the top 4. He said:
“As manager of this football club I can only say that to have the best sponsorship deal we’ve ever had is a good thing.”
"It's about building the first team and it's about having the financial muscle. Now there's no reason why we can't be one of those top-four clubs, especially on an organisational front.”
"I listened to the owner and their customer satisfaction levels are higher than any other bank or lending facility. When Wonga have been involved in football clubs they've been very successful."
