Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was delighted by striker Papiss Demba Cisse after the Senegalese striker bagged his first goal of the season in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last night.
The powerful and imposing centre-forward came on in the second half and made an immediate impact as he scored a goal which gave the visitors some hope of salvaging a result.
Newcastle had been impressive in the game, with youngsters Haris Vuckic, James Tavernier and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dan-Gosling-c9845 putting in solid shifts in all areas of the pitch. The players made sure the game was evenly contested as they gave a tough time to the hosts in the
midfield.

It was not until manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew made two substitutions that the visitors finally had a say in the game. Striker Papiss Demba Cisse came on in the second half, and had an instant impact as he headed the ball into the net from a Shane Ferguson cross.
The striker had an opportunity to level the game in the closing minutes, only to be denied by the crossbar. Pardew was full of praise for the striker, and hailed his cameo performance. The manager was disappointed that the player’s brilliant overhead effort
did not result in a goal, but sang his praises nonetheless.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
"Trust me, that goal was everything for him. You could see after he got it, his feathers went up.”
"That exuberance came back to his game and I thought the overhead kick was in. It was a brilliant effort and that just sums him up.”
"People keep telling me that Demba and Papiss never score at the same time - well they both scored this week, so we will take them both to Reading and see how they get on."
