Newcastle have failed to replicate last season’s impressive form, and have struggled in the league this campaign. They were without a number of key first team players when the season started and had trouble with injuries and suspensions.
Having lost the likes of Ryan Taylor and Haris Vuckic for the remainder of the season, Newcastle are facing problems when it comes to squad depth. Recently, they also lost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 to a groin strain, and the midfielder is expected to undergo surgery
which will rule him out till next year.
Newcastle are short-staffed in many areas, especially the midfield. However, they have Fabricio Coloccini and Cheick Tiote back in the squad. Despite this, they have failed to impress and manage convincing results.
Alan Pardew said that he was worried by his team’s lethargic form in the league, and is concerned about their prospects this season. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Personally, coming back to my old club I wanted to see a little bit more verve on the pitch than I saw today. I was very disappointed. We are really struggling for confidence. We got beat by the better side. They picked us off too many times on the break.
Tim had to make a couple of good saves just to make it two.”
“Our fans travelled all the way down here, they had high expectations from the team this year and quite rightly. We are going to need them now, especially since we’re so low on confidence and without a win.”
The team travels to Stoke City on Wednesday for their next Premier League game, and face another tough task as they look to get a point.
