Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew admits that his side lacked a cutting edge in the 0-1 defeat against West Ham United last night, and believes that they miss Tiote’s presence in midfield.
The Ivorian midfield enforcer missed yesterday’s game due to a one-game suspension after being sent-off in the Wear-Tyne derby last month.
Newcastle were also without captain and defender Fabricio Coloccini, who is currently serving a 3-game suspension following his reckless tackle on Luis Suarez last week. Newcastle clearly struggled at home against the Hammers, and ended up losing the game
by a single goal.

Newcastle would’ve climbed up to sixth spot had they won the game, but are now positioned at 10th in the league table. With only 4 points separating the 6th and 10th placed teams, the league table remains more open than ever,
with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Fulham and Newcastle all pushing for a Champions League spot.
A Kevin Nolan strike ended the contest, as the player returned to St. James’ Park for the first time since he left for the Hammers. The Magpies did have their chances to score an equalizer, and kept forcing Jussi Jaaskelainen into making saves. But the Hammers
were on top for the majority of the game and looked far more comfortable than the hosts.
This marks Newcastle’s second home defeat of the season, and Pardew was all too aware of his team’s unconvincing form and performances. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
"If you don't score at home then you're asking for trouble. We threatened the goal and had a couple of shots but nothing with any real purpose or quality; one good effort from Yohan that they blocked away but no, I'm disappointed.”
"We should have played better. We just couldn't get going. We knew they were going to play a fragmented game and put balls in our box but it was costly today for us, that period.”
"They got a goal and then really we were huffing and puffing and just couldn't produce that moment.
