Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is targeting a win against Greek club Atromitos in tonight’s Europa League fixture, but admits that it will be a difficult task.
The manager was happy with the 1-1 draw in the first leg playoff that took place in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 just a week ago. Newcastle went into the game knowing very well that they faced a considerable challenge against the Greek club.
The Magpies fell behind courtesy of an early goal by Atromitos but defender Ryan Taylor struck home a free kick and equalized, earning his club a vital away goal which increases their chances of progressing in the competition.
The club has been tipped to succeed this season, both in the Premier League and the three cup competitions. Many have already said that Newcastle will edge out against Atromitos and go through to the group stages.
Alan Pardew is however not taking anything for granted and has called for composure and focus ahead of the game. Having experienced the threat of the Greek side first hand in the first leg, the manager knows that Atromitos is more than capable of causing
an upset when they come to play at the Sports Direct Arena tonight.
Speaking about tonight’s clash, Pardew talked about his squad and players and last week’s 1-1 draw. He said:
“Last week we got what I thought was a positive result. I know a few of the fans will have watched it at home on television, but I don't think you can appreciate the heat we had to play under - it really was intense. And it won't be in Newcastle, that's
for sure.”
"Our energy levels can go up, we will have to be patient, pass the ball and make sure we are educated in how we find solutions to get the win.”
"The Club wants to win on Thursday and we will put out a side which we think can win the game."
Pardew stated that the only thing that Atromitos have to their advantage is their manager, Dusan Bajevic, who has almost 30 years of managerial experience under his belt. The Magpies boss admitted that this concerned him, but he was fully prepared at taking
on the opposing manager and leading Newcastle to victory tonight.
