Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was delighted with his team’s ‘perfect performance’ after they thrashed Bordeaux away in the group D Europa League fixture last night.
Strikers Papiss Demba Cisse and Shola Ameobi were on the mark as they scored in an impressive away victory for the Magpies.
The Senegalese international produced an astounding 49th-minute goal as Newcastle made their way to the top of group D with their first win in the Europa League.
Shola Ameobi had opened the scoring for Newcastle which was provided by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Henrique-c16069.
The own goal had left the hosts dumb struck, and they shortly conceded the third as Cisse slotted home from a cross by Shane Ferguson. This is the youngster’s third consecutive assist for the Magpies in three games running, and in three different competitions.
Newcastle fielded out a team that mixed youth with experience. After facing so many injury troubles ever since the season started, manager Alan Pardew must have been relieved to see his fringe players perform well and help guide the team to victory.
So far, Newcastle have not lived up to the expectations that were placed on them this season. Star players such as Cisse and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 have been pretty much average after they finished off last season on a high note. This win will instil confidence in
the team and the manager will be hopeful that it helps them finally kick start their season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew paid tribute to the team for putting in an inspired and convincing performance. After a number of faltering displays, this victory left the manager delighted and he couldn’t help hold back his smile when he spoke to the club’s official website
after the game.
"We set standards last year that we haven't reached this season - until tonight," Pardew said. “Suddenly we looked like the team of last year, with some of our best players back to form. We were good tonight, led by Shola - the captain - who was brilliant
again.”
"There were great performances from the squad. Bigi came on after Cheick went off and looked like Cheick, Obertan was brilliant, Ferguson was brilliant and it was a delightful performance.”
"We got goals at the right time. The performance level was exactly what we needed.”
