Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is hopeful of the return of some of his star players from injury as he prepares his team for the derby clash against Sunderland.
The manager was hit by a lack of first team players as Newcastle lost the likes of Tim Krul, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Simpson, Fabricio Coloccini, Cheick Tiote and Ryan Taylor to injuries.
Cheick Tiote, Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul have since returned after missing out on the opening weeks of the season, but Ryan Taylor was ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury.
The most recent addition to this list is that of midfielder Haris Vuckic, who had to be stretchered off in last week’s under-21 game against Aston Villa. Scans revealed that the player had ruptured his cruciate ligaments, and will miss out on the rest of
the season.
This would be seen a major blow to Newcastle’s prospects of success this season, especially after the club suffered an embarrassing 0-3 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at home.
The Magpies will face Sunderland once the Premier League resumes next week, and both the manager and the players know the significance of this derby.
Having had the upper hand over Sunderland in recent seasons, Newcastle will be looking to assert their domination once again.
Alan Pardew is hopeful of the return of five star players before the big game, and is glad that the international break gives them more time to prepare and train for the derby.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 and Shane Ferguson were also struck by minor injuries, but the manager is optimistic that both players will be fit for the Sunderland game.
“Yohan Cabaye is with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 but I think he’ll be fine. Everybody else we are hoping on Wednesday. Steven, Colo and Tim will train but we’ll see.”
The manager is also waiting on his three http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/African-Stars-c38232 who shipped out this week for international duty. Yet, his main concern remains Cabaye, who is arguably their most important player. Pardew added:
“Hopefully Cabaye comes through. He is probably the most important player on international duty. If that happens we’ll be OK.”
