Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is hoping that defender and captain Fabricio Coloccini is fit and returns to the side for their clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today.
The manager is hoping to repeat the 2-0 victory against the Blues at Stamford Bridge last season that came through two wonderfully struck goals by Papiss Demba Cisse. The Magpies cruised to victory in comfortable fashion as they finished above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the league table.
Pardew may be without a number of key players tonight, but hopes that his squad depth will not let him down. Newcastle have a number of impressive names in the squad at the moment, but many players are doubtful to start tonight’s game against the Blues.
The Magpies started their Premier League campaign with a win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend at home and then travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 to face Atromitos and managed a draw courtesy of a Ryan Taylor free-kick. Pardew will be hoping to continue this form tonight as his side goes into the match brimming with confidence and belief.
One player that the manager is counting on is captain and Argentine international Fabricio Coloccini. The player has been out for both Newcastle’s games this competitive season and Pardew is optimistic that the player will return to lead the team out to another memorable night at Stamford Bridge.
The manager is also hoping for striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 to return to the side after he missed out on their Europa League playoff game against Atromitos.
Speaking to the press, Pardew said:
“We have come through unscathed. I think Colo has got a good chance for Saturday and Demba too."
“But Demba – it will be interesting to see how he reacts to training. We had a bit of a spa afternoon yesterday, and then we trained in the evening.”
“We are trying to get as much energy back into the legs and rest as we can and prepare ourselves for what will be a great week’s work if we can get something at Chelsea.”
Coloccini had picked up a thigh strain in Newcastle’s pre-season game against Cardiff this month and has been working on getting fit ever since. The captain’s return to the squad for today’s clash against Chelsea will surely uplift the players' spirits and morale.
