Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he will be making signings in the January transfer window to strengthen the Magpies’ squad.
Newcastle suffered a 2-0 defeat against French outfit Bordeaux last night in the Europa League, but still managed to book their place in the final 32 of the competitions after having finished second in their group.
Their Premier League form is an all together different situation. The Magpies have only won 1 in their last 5 games, and had gone on a losing run of 4 games before the 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Monday night.
The club is currently 14th in the Premier League, and have a lot of ground to make up for. After going from top 4 favourites to a potential relegation candidate, Newcastle United face tough times ahead. Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew had himself admitted
that his side need to pick up their performances or otherwise face the prospect of a relegation battle.
With more than half the season to go, there’s still time before Newcastle can turn around things and move up the league table. Last night’s Europa League result may not have been something Pardew wanted, but progression towards the next stage is a major
positive for the team and the club.
Speaking to reporters, Alan Pardew said that he planned on making winter signings, especially in the midst of all the injuries and suspensions that have plagued the squad since the season started. The manager said:
“I am just hoping that, fingers crossed, when we come out of the other side of the window, we have got a stronger squad. I will probably look at loaning a few of those who played tonight, hopefully after January when I have got a stronger position in the
squad.”
Injuries to key players such as Ryan Taylor, Cheick Tiote, Fabricio Coloccini, Tim Krul and most recently http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bare-c7300. Though most of the players have now returned, some are still facing long spells on the sidelines.
Ryan Taylor and Haris Vuckic have been ruled out for the entire season, while Cabaye is expected to be out till next year.
Newcastle resume their Premier League campaign with an away trip to Craven Cottage on Monday to face Fulham.
