Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that star striker and Senegalese international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 is on his way to Chelsea after the North London club triggered his release clause.
The player was missing from the squad that faced Everton last night. Newcastle are currently on a poor run of form, and have managed only 1 win in their last 6 games.
The Magpies ended up losing to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 last night at St. James’ Park, and stay at 15th spot on the league table. The club has now 11 defeats in 13 league games, and this paints quite a contrasting picture with regards to what they did last season,
finishing in 5th place and managing impressive wins against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, and with their highest goal scorer on his way out of the club, things look bleak at Tyneside.
The 27-year old striker was left out of last night’s squad for the game against Everton, and it is understood that Chelsea offered the £7 million that has triggered his release clause.
Last night, Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez spoke on the situation after the surprise defeat to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 and said:
“Fernando Torres is one of the players we need to rest, he has been playing too many games. I don’t have any official information about the situation. Officially Ba is not our player. The club are working on it and we think we can talk about him when it’s
official.”
Alan Pardew is understood to be on the look-out for a replacement for Ba, and was surprisingly upbeat about Ba’s departure. He said:
“It’s done; he’ll go to Chelsea with our blessing. For us, it’s not a bad thing because all the uncertainty over whether he was going to stay, it’s now done. We are bigger than any player so in some respects I’m pleased.”
In other news, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 is understood to be on his way to Tyneside this month, and is expected to complete a medical this week. The player had been a long term target for Alan Pardew, but a deal with Lille failed to materialize in the summer.
