Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew was disappointed after losing 0-3 to Manchester United at home last night, but was pleased to see his side put up a fighting performance.
The Magpies conceded two early goals in the first half after some careless defending against set pieces. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085 was found unmarked as United defended a corner, and nodded home the first goal of the game.
This was followed by another very similar goal by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, which also came from a corner. Newcastle were disappointed to have conceded so early on, and it was all due to negligence on their part.
Manchester United increased their tally with a third goal by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Cleverley-c35218 in the second half. The young midfielder scored the best goal of the night and ensured all three points for the visitors.
Pardew was disappointed at losing at home against a Manchester side fresh from a home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur. He did however praise his players for not giving up and playing their usual style of football.
“As much as we wanted to try and force the issue at the start of the game, Man United had a golden period in that first ten minutes. We couldn’t get near them. We were trying to put pressure on the ball and they just kept bouncing it around us,” Pardew told
reporters.
The manager was however not pleased with Robin Van Persie’s elbow on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423. He urged the FA to take appropriate action against the Dutchman after he saw further replays of the incident.
“He has looked at Yohan and he has elbowed him, and I think that perhaps needs to be looked at,” said Pardew. “That was just a little bit unsavoury. I’ve seen it on the replay and it looks like he has put his elbow there.”
Van Persie had been visibly annoyed throughout the game, and had tried to get some Newcastle players worked up in the first half following some reckless tackles.
The player lashed out at Cabaye in the second half as replays were shown again and again. However, the incident was not noticed by the match officials at the time. The FA are expected to hand the Dutchman a 3-game ban today.
