Newcastle United manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has called upon his team to shrug aside the disappointment of their embarrassing defeat against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and to go all out in their remaining league games.
The Magpies were hammered by the Latics 4-0 at the DW Stadium which ended their sequence of six consecutive wins in the Premier League. It also allowed Tottenham Hotspur leapfrog them to the fourth place, and Chelsea to narrow down the gap to just a single
point.
The Toon now face an uphill task of earning a place in the Champions League competition next season, as they have got the most difficult run-in amongst the teams competing for the third and the fourth spot. They will square off against Chelsea at Stamford
Bridge on Wednesday and will play host to league leaders, Manchester City on the 6th of May. Their season will culminate at Goodison Park on 13th against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Nevertheless, the Magpies boss admitted that he his side got distracted, from the prospect of playing Champions League football, against Wigan but warned that they will bounce back strongly against the Blues in their next game.
While talking to reporters, he said: “We certainly didn't turn up in the first half at Wigan, and I am pretty sure we will have a different mentality on Wednesday night.”
The Englishman also underlined the fact that the Toon had won six games on the bounce before their visit to Wigan, and called upon his side to draw inspiration from their remarkable run in the last couple of months.
“Of the last seven games, we have won six, and that's what we have got to lean on. This team doesn't need to measure itself against anybody, we have proven that all year.” He added.
The Blues manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 will be a dangerous side nevertheless, as they
have got a talented reserve squad.
“The one thing I do know is he has the luxury of picking from 22 internationals, and every one of them a good one, so it isn't that tough.”
The 50-year old went on to say that he was satisfied with what the Magpies had achieved this season; even if they go on to lose all three of their remaining games. However, he called upon his side to make the fans proud by finishing the season on a high.
