Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has admitted to a ‘tough’ and ‘difficult’ fourth qualifying round Europa League fixture against Greek side Atromitos.
The manager has helped his side to a fifth place finish in the Premier League after a very impressive season that exceeded everyone’s expectations. The club has come a long way since it got relegated back in the 2008/2009 season.
The team won the Coca-Cola Championship under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton and acquired its rightful place back among the top clubs of the country.
Since then, Newcastle have gone through a number of changes in personnel and management. The club got rid of Chris Hughton and most of its important players, and appointed Alan Pardew as manager. Pardew began his squad overhaul, signing the likes of Yohan
Cabaye, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812, who took the club to new heights.
Newcastle now have become a very attractive destination for many up-and-coming football players and with the prospect of European football, they have re-established themselves as a top English side.
Recently, the manager conceded to the fact that the club’s Europa League fourth qualifying round tie against Greek club Atromitos will be a tough one. Newcastle could face Atromitos on the 23rd of August, approximately 58 hours before the travel
to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
Both fixtures are very difficult indeed, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has recognized this. UEFA however have announced that clubs can negotiate a change of date for their matches, and Newcastle will probably take advantage of this.
"It will be a hard game, for sure," Pardew told the club's official website.
"You don't finish fourth in your league unless you've got something going on so they're obviously on the up.”
"It's a tough journey which is going to take a little bit away from us. Certainly coming back from there to go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on a Saturday is not ideal."
Recently, Atromitos coach Dusan Bajevic had spoken to the media and issued a public warning to Newcastle to expect a difficult time as the English side travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 for the fixture.
Pardew has surely taken note, and will be well prepared as Newcastle attempt to build on last season’s success.
