Newcastle United’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has gone on to claim that he was joking about his comments regarding his team losing to Arsenal by four goals to nil on the last day of the season.
The Magpies boss went on to claim that he didn’t care if his team lost by four goals to nil on the last day of the season, after they had gone on to secure their survival in the league, having beaten QPR by two goals to one.
At the moment when the comments were made, it seemed like the manager was being serious. However, he has gone on to insist that he was only joking about those comments, and that there is no real intention over him wanting to see his team lose.
The manager is rather surprised that people are making such a big deal out of his comments, since he feels that people should have gone on to realize that he was simply joking about the game.
"I know people will have picked up on my comments about not caring about the result against Arsenal, which were, of course, a joke," Pardew told the club's official website.

"It is definitely not the case that I would be happy for us to lose 4-0 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 on Sunday. I simply want our players and fans to be able to enjoy the game without looking over their shoulders."
He then went on to admit that he was looking forward to the game against Arsenal as being the game, where his side could end up salvaging their season. He wishes to see his team go on and end the season on a high, and he feels the only way for him to do this, is by watching his side beat Arsenal in their last game of the season.
"Even though we are now safe, we will be putting in the same effort that we would for any other Premier League game," Pardew continued.
"Our last two results at St James' Park - against Sunderland and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 - have been nowhere near good enough, and Sunday gives us the chance to put that right.”
