Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew expressed his frustration at the growing list of injured players the club faces after September’s international break ended.
Going into the international break, the club already had the likes of first regulars Ryan Taylor, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew had voiced his concerns before all his other players shipped out for international
duty.
The manager had called for better communication with the managers of all the national teams his players play for, and demanded more frequent updates on his players. The manager also said that he would rather not have most of his first team players leave
Tyneside for their countries.
Pardew’s fears were realized when he lost two more players to injuries. Club skipper and defender Fabricio Coloccini strained his thigh muscles while on duty with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 and first choice goalkeeper Tim Krul sustained an elbow injury whilst training with
the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 squad.
Both players returned to Tyneside, hoping to recover in time for Monday night’s clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 at Goodison Park. However, it has been learnt that Coloccini and Krul, along with midfield enforcer Tiote will not be able to feature in the game.
This could not have come at a worse time, as Newcastle have had a fairly mixed start to their season. A victory or a draw at Goodison Park is always a difficult feat, and without most of his key players, Pardew knows he faces a tough challenge.
He told reporters:
"We lost Ferguson injured on international duty; we have lost Coloccini twice now injured on international duty and we have lost Tim injured on international duty when he trained after the game, which we were disappointed about."
"Therefore, we have put in a procedure now that we want all international sides to inform us what the players are doing, and exactly what they are doing.”
Pardew added: "Cheick, I would say, is touch and go for next week too, so we are down on what you would like to select from. But we have still got very, very good players in the building, so I have got no issues.”
