Pardon my ignorance. but how do you transfer a VHS tape to DVD?

You have to have a vcr and a dvd recorder.

You just output the vcr signal into the input of the dvd recorder.  Press play on the vcr then press record on the dvd recorder.

output the dvd recorder signal to the tvs input if you want to be able to see what you are recording

just find the movie on dvd, hd dvd or blu ray. They re starting to make older movies in those formats.

Hi Sergio,

If you are having trouble with your DVD recorder refusing to copy and they are pre recorded tapes it is because they have copy guard.

You can legally back up your tapes but you have to bypass the copy guard. To do this you need a device like device like "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.
