Pardon my ignorance..please help me?

Question

What do you mean when you sync music to your ipod? Is it ok to like, download a song from limewire and add the song that you downloaded from limewire to the playlist of itunes and then from the playlist of itunes, you tranfer it to your ipod without erasing all the songs from the ipod? How???

By default, iTunes automatically syncs your iPod when you connect it to your computer; however you can change that setting so that you can add items manually.

If you have it set on sync mode, each time you connect, it updates everything. Depending on the type of iPod you have, you may also be able to synchronize contact and calendar information from your computer. Syncing an iPod means to completely erase all the files on your current iPod with the ones in your iTunes library. For example if I were to take an iPod synced on my library and then say sync it to yours, all my files would be replaced with your files.

You can switch from sync mode to manual. You will have to manually drag songs to your iPod, and you will have to manually eject the iPod  when you are done adding songs, but you won't lose your music when you connect! To change the sync setting, open iTunes and go to the edit menu, then preferences. Then click the syncing tab (all the way on the right), and choose "disable automatic syncing..."

You know when you plug up your ipod to your computer and the songs automatically sync meaning transfer to your ipod..well there is a little box that says manually controll songs..just click that and you can add songs to your ipod without it deleting off your old ones. This is especially useful when you want to get music from a friends computer

it basically means making your ipod equal = itunes

so all the songs on your computer goes to your ipod and any new ones are uploaded onto the ipod, so no it does not delete any of the somgs unless you've told itunes to do that before you sync it

Yep my ipods filled with music from my itunes library & when i download a new song on limewire i just drag it 2 the itunes library & thats it , it just adds on & doesnt erase anything.
