Question:

Parent/Child Swimming Lessons?

I teach a Parent/Child swim class- I am looking for games or ideas for the kids who are a little older and are past the stage of blowing bubbles and kicking their feet. They seem to be extremely bored and I don't want parents to be disappointed with the class. It is so difficult to accommodate my lesson plans for children ages 6 months all the way to 2 or 3 years old! They are at such different stages! Help!

  1. younger bubs enjoy visual stimulation, try adding bright coloured toys, such as balls, ducks etc...mums hold the bubs floating in a semi-sitting position and bub has to kick the ball to another child....as they get older, they love to sing and dance....try changing some well known nursery rhymes to fit water i.e humpty dumpty fell off the wall...the kids can sit on the side of the pool, when humpty falls in the song, they fall/jump into the water to mum...also hoola hoops are a great way to get a child swim from teacher to mum and the little one thinks it's great to float through the hoops....be creative, kids love everthing if you make it sound fun...but most of all kids love music, use singing and get the mum's involved, if they sing, the kids will be very excited
