Parental acknowledgment form....?

I am in a situation where the father of my son is unknown... My husband wants to assume responsibility for him.. can he not just sign the parent acknowlegement form and be put on the birth certificate...

  1. A person who is not a parent of a specific child may become a parent of that child through adoption.

    Even a father who is currently unknown has parental rights.

    Consult with your attorney.


  2. yes but u can talk to a judge in the state that u live in and make sure he can do that i dont c why he cant

  3. I am under the assumption that your son is not born yet.  If he is not born yet, then yes your husband can sign the birth certificate form.  But remember what can happen if you and your husband get divorced. (not saying that you will but it could happen)

    When you divorce and you put your child down for child support and the father does not want to pay because the child is not his, although he has signed the birth certificate and raised him for most of his life, guess who gets hurt, your son.
