  1. I dont think you will get many infants to play hop-scotch?  Ana m has a great idea.  I have done similar stuff with whipping cream.  Just think of the fact that they will put everything in their mouth!!! This is the time in development where experimenting the world is based almost primarily on the senses.  So, like Ana M's idea, you want to some how incorporate sensory stimulation in your large/small motor activity.  There is a huge list of these on the Internet but I would consider the age of development to consider these viable.  Simple is best!!  A lot of people who are new to this area think they need to do a lot by "teaching" or "dictating" the actions/pace.  Use Ana's idea wih consideration of space/sanity , and this will be wonderful.  These 1 year olds will be squishing, slapping and manipulating without needing to be "taught" anything in a classical sense.  Go to NAEYC for some explanation of more schemes regarding sensory play that invites small/large motor skills.

  2. With motor skill development in children that young you can toss or throw a ball back and fourth or play hopscotch.

  3. fingerpainting with pudding is great for small muscles
