Parents & Children?

Has anyone else noticed that alot of kids have more sense than their parents? By Kids, i mean Teens really. Or those more mature minded.. And to those of you that dont understand Exactly where im comin from, this doesnt apply to All kids, or maybe not even MOST kids. But there are few ppl that im Sure know where im coming from. Some parents have this in their mind: "You're a child, im much older; therefore im much smarter." Okay the fact that they are older does matter alot, they've ben through more, and have had a lot more experience with life.

But being older doesnt always mean wiser or smarter. Or even having good sense. I hate people that are not open minded. i know im 15 but i have Alot of sense for somebody my age. and i believe that for somebody to have 'Sense', they would First have to accept the truth, and All of the Truth. Alot of parents cant do that. Or they are too stuborn to accept when they're wrong.

  1. Want in on a secret I have known longer than you have been alive? True intelligence is only found in people who dont think they are smarter or wiser than anybody else; it comes from true experience and learning along the way. There are a LOT of teens who assume they are smart when in fact they havent experienced anything in life. Do you honestly think a 13 yr old can have anywhere near the life experience or endured the tests of life that a 45 year old has? The 45 yr old may not have all the answers or be intelligent in the least. But atleast the 45 year old has experienced life and can give accurate information as to their own experience. A 13 year old may be open minded but has no experience from which to draw knowledge. Anybody can read answers exoperts give but unless you have lived through it you cant begin to understand a topic with true intelligence. Im afraid I would take the advice of an adult over a child 8 times out of 10 simply because I want to know what actually works. If I wanted to learn theory I would do my own research.

  2. I'm not sure if I know where you are coming from. I have a 16 1/2 yr old son and he is very intelligent and very open minded for his age. He is also wise in some areas - again for his age. I mention him because unlike you he likes people who he perceives to be close minded (rather than hates them) because he likes to figure them out and speak to them to see from where they base their conclusion. Besides, to "hate people that are not open minded" is a bit of an oxymoron is it not? You can't just talk the talk you gotta' walk the walk.

It sounds to me like you are having issues with your parents (or parents in general)?? I'm not sure. I do know this much, people inherently do the best they can with what they know.  I also believe how people are raised has much to do with how they will be as parents.  Parenting is a very complicated task to say the least. Regardless of the quality or quantity of the knowledge a parent has attained, whether it be intellect or otherwise, has no bearing on the fact that children need direction.

Believe me, I've seen some parenting skills that I feel leave a lot to be desired, but then I quickly remind myself that I do not know the circumstances or the entire truth of that situation and I'm certain there were times when I was being eyed and judged on my parenting skills.

. . . and yes, I have noticed that a lot of kids have more sense than their parents. Of course it would appear as such simply because kids don't have any responsibility. Take those same kids and put them in charge of balancing the family budget and that picture will change. There are many kids that can't wait to be on their own. I was one of them. I was born and raised in a huge city and the first lesson that smacked me upside the head was the fact that with freedom comes a gigantic amount of responsibility.

I don't know if I've helped at all but I hope I at least gave you something to think about. Take care.
