Question:

Parents Choice Formula?

Ok so here's the deal. No breastfeeding comments please because i did do it for 3 weeks but then medicine prevented me from doing so. However, he has had several severe problems with formula. The doctor put him through several types of formula because they thought he had a milk allergy due to consistant projectile vomit and other symptoms (but no blood in stool). He does well on Soy formula except then the Nestle Soy made him throw up blood (as well as any Enfamil), so they put him on Similac Alimentum which makes him throw up just as bad, but without the blood. We decided it best to put him back on Soy but since WIC will only do Carnation/Nestle Soy, it must come out of pocket. Now I know all formulas need to meet the same guidelines and he did well with Similac Soy (he did that originally for soy however wic refuses to do Similac Soy). So mainly, my question is that i hear many people raving about Parents Choice formula and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a similar situation and if anyone uses Parents Choice Soy and their thoughts on it, or what I should do. I want to make the best decision for my baby. He has been doing much better with the reflux since being on Zantac, so they believe his intolerance to cows milk to be only minor, which is why I want back to Soy and off of Alimentum (the alimentum although covered by WIC i do not like because he consistantly spits up enough to fill 1 cup)

basically please help me make a decision which eases my mind. im very nervewracked over this

  1. Try Nutramagen my son had that and he spit up but not bad

Parents choice soy gave my son the runs

parents choice milk based worked fine

  2. Honestly if your baby cannot handle even alimentum then I don't think soy will be better.  Call your insurance company and tell them about all his feeding problems and they can cover the cost of getting breast milk from the milk bank.

  3. Baby's on formula spit up a lot anyways because of it's harsh effects on their little stomachs. Poor baby. I know you said "NO BREASTFEEDING COMMENTS" but, I hope the medication is absolutely necessary, otherwise, that's selfish. 3 weeks is good but that formula is obviously not what the baby's body wants. Sorry I can't help.I pray that you baby gets better and the nutrients he or she needs.

  4. I know a few people who use Parents Choice Gentlease verison of Enfamils Gentelase.  They love it, I tried it once, but my daughter did not take to well to it (could of been a bad can for all I know).  But since your baby is so young, then I doubt he will notice.  Its not going to hurt to try it, its cheaper then everything else, and if you compaire ingredients, they are all the same.

  5. My son suffers from the exact same problem! That alimentum is the most foul smelling stuff I have ever smelled. I made the change from alimentum to parents choice and he did so well I made another change to milk based. I don't know what they do to it but it is amazing. I tell all my friends about it because it settles in their stomaches better and is far cheaper. Just remember to stay away from K-Mart & Kirkland brands they are horrible.

  6. My daughter had an allergy to milk when she was first born.  She was on Similac Advance and was changed to Similacs soy formula, Isomil.  She did wonderful on it.  At the time that was all WIC offered so we didnt try Enfamil/Nestle.  I did use Parent's Choice Soy a lot with her though.  She used approx 2 -3 cans over what WIC gave her a month, so I bought the Parent's Choice because it was much cheaper.  She did just as well on it as she did the Isomil.  She actually seemed to like it better than the Isomil for some reason.

  7. We used to use Similac Sensitive but it got to be way expensive. We talked to the pediatrician about switching to Parent's Choice Sensitivity. I asked if we should mix it some with the old stuff. She said no; if you're going to do it, just do it right away. So far, she's been fine. Much cheaper. No changes. The formulas are almost the same. It's great! So you should try Parent's Choice.

  8. The Parent's Choice formulas are just generic versions of various popular brand-name formulas. A big thing to be noted about this line is that both their organic and soy formulas contain DHA & ARA, which assist brain development.

The soy version of Parent's Choice formula is a generic version of ProSobee Lipil and Isomil Advance.

  9. we used similac soy for about 3 months and switched to parents choice. he did just fine. we had to slowly mix in the parents choice until we reached full parents choice for a day. i guess it tastes a little different. i would consult the dr. and then give it a try.

actaully after reading christinas comment.... i guess you shouldn't mix it. oops.
