Parents Choice Vs. Enfamil... Target brand vs. Similac?

When comparing them, obviously walmarts brand is practically Enfamil, & Targets brand is practically Similac. However my friend told me that her Pediatrician told her that the Wal mart Brand is MADE BY ENFAMIL... so if this is true, WHY would it be sold under 2 different names? & the price range? and is there really a difference? I am thinking about trying them.

  1. All formula has to go past the FDA so it is all safe to use. Go with the cheaper kind it is just as good plus they normal are in bigger cans so more bang for your buck!

  2. It's not exactly the same formula, but it's really close.  I have also heard that Parent's Choice (Wal-mart Brand) is made my Enfamil.

My son couldn't tolerate Enfamil, but could use the slightly different Parent's Choice.  As you saw comparing the two, there's basically no difference.

It's just like shoes.  My uncle was in South Korea on duty in the Air Force and went to a shoe factory.  He was the exact same shoe getting stitched with a Nike label and "no name" brands.

Some people will only buy a brand name and many are willing to pay more for "brand" so the company can charge more for it.

  3. Wal Mart, Target, Walgreens, CVS and just about every other off brand is made by the same company. PBM. We used the off brands since our son wouldn't even drink the name brand stuff. Crazy but true. He hated the stuff. I researched it online and looked at the back of the cans and everything before we tried it though. If you can save money and get just as good formula then why not? Enfamil and Similac is so expensive because they advertise and give out all those free samples at the hospital. It's gotta be paid for somehow.

  4. Your friend is making it up because every pediatrician in the country knows that ALL off-brand formula is made by the same pharmaceutical, Wyeth Industries. That means no matter where you buy a store brand, it is made by Wyeth.  They simply copy slightly older formulas.  They are perfectly good to use.  You should  toss out any other advice that you hear from this friend. Obviously trying to be self-important with information she makes up.  Enfamil DOES NOT make off brand products.

Years ago, rumors to justify store brand and generic products all claimed that they were made by the same companies that produced the brand name. Totally untrue.  There are plenty of dingalings who still believe this c**p.
