  1. i creeped in her room in the middle of the night in a frightening costume and shook her violently while screaming at the top of my lungs.  then i took off my mask and told her to grow up.  i love my daughter

  2. before they go to bed; check there closet and under there

bed and show them that there not there.

or put a night light in there room and tell them that the

boogeyman and monsters are afraid of the light.

theirs different methods to do this. but eventually they will

learn that theres no such thing.

  3. my parents tried to deal with it by jumping out of my closest late at night and scaring me

  4. I love MommyPrincess's way of handling it!  It's too cute=]

  5. no they dont of course i dont let them watch that stuff or anyone tell them about that

  6. you check for the "monsters" and assure them that there are none....if u do it repeatedly and have them check with u over time they should get over their fear

  7. My mom made my older daughter a quilt printed with many Sesame Street characters, including the lovable monsters.

When my daughter started complaining that she was scared of monsters at night, I would point out that Cookie, Herry, Elmo, Grover, and the others are good monsters. I would put the blanket on her, character-side up, and say, "See? They keep you warm and safe."

I would also post some of her stuffies in front of her closet and other potentially creepy areas of her room to stand guard so she and the "good" monsters can sleep.

  8. you should tell em about Jesus

  9. Im 12 the fear wont go way take all the close out of the closet and take the door out take the bed apart so theyknows theres noting to fear, my parents didn't do this to me they trie a bunch of other stuff but i lost my fear at like 4 years of age.

  10. well I'm not a parent but i remember after I told him there was something under my bed he would go under my bed grab the imaginary monster and he would kick it out the door, than after that he would tell me there no more monsters and after that i was sure that there wasn't anymore monster under my bed

  11. have there dad go to there room once they think the boogey-man or monster is at then have the dad act like he's beating up the monster or boogey-man and then say the boogey man or monster aint never going to mess wit u again he ran into the ocean cause he got so scared of me lol but seriously try  it

  12. Get a cheap spray bottle at a drug store. Fill it with water and label it, "Monster Spray". Every night, spray under the beds, closets, ect. Also read them a story or something to get their mind off of it. Hope I helped.

  13. I have always taught my kids what I have been taught growing up. There is nothing to fear. I try to teach them not to fear anything. They never mentioned a boogey-man or monster, but lighting storms and sometimes the dark can scare them. I always talk to my kids like people, they are very smart. I sit them down on there own bed in the dark and ask them what are you afraid of? Nothing is going to happen to you. Did you sleep fine last night? and the night before? Why is tonight any different? I try to just comfort them and reason with them just a little and show them there is nothing to fear, and I always ask them in the morning when they get up "see what was the big fuss about? I told you there is nothing to be scared of." They are 6 and 8 by the way. You just have to talk to them and teach them.

I was afraid of snakes for some reason. So to fix it I bought a baby Boa Constrictor. The wife wasn't to happy, but she got the point. My kids weren't scared, but they did ask why I bought it and I told them why. It died on me after awhile and that was the only pet I ever had, but I got over that fear.

  14. my mom let me sleep in her bed.

  15. I ask him where the monster is and when he tells me I get his Star Wars Light Saber and kill the c**p out of some "monsters" until he explodes in giggles...then I put the light saber by his bed and tell him it's there for him just in case.  He has a nite light in his room so he can see if anything is there, I leave the door open until he falls asleep.  Sometimes I let the dog sleep at the foot of his bed.  Sometimes I lay with him until he falls asleep.  Sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night scared and I lay with him for the brief moment it takes for him to fall asleep.  Just use your imagination and make a scary thing into a funny thing.  Hope this helps!!!

  16. my mom got me an "amulet" (the thing was like this big cheap plastic thing that looked like a diamond kinda, i had it for years until i started to move around and lost it).  it worked pretty well.  i completely believed this super powerful amulet could keep back any and all monsters, even the ones my sisters told me about.  it also helps to eliminate all shadow causing things, and to look under the bed before they go to sleep.  a lot of people use night lights, but i used to hate them because they would cast eerie shadows on the walls and stuff. also need to make sure all doors are shut (closet, etc) and no sheers on the windows (again with the shadows.  use heavy plain blinds).

  17. Whatever you do, DO NOT let them sleep in your bed.. I made that mistake once and my daughter slept with me.. until she was ELEVEN. Read them bed time stories or let them watch happy television programs like Treehouse or Disney right before bed so happy thoughts are still in their heads.

  18. Its hard for a kid to not imagine a boogy man no matter what you tell them. With my niece I simply used phrases like "Oh I hate the boogey man, if he's in this house I'm going to make him pay"

She really liked to feel secure knowing the Boogey-man wouldnt get her because I had it out for him. She then quickly grew out of it after that.

  19. I told my little brother and sister that the boogey man was hiding under their bed because he thought there were monsters under his own bed. but i went to the boogey man's house today and showed him that there were no monsters there, and now he is back in his own bed.

thus, he is not under the childs bed.

    that sounds confusing. ha

    hope it helps.

  20. We have a can of "monster repellent" (it's just eco-friendly air freshener that I made a "No More Monsters" label for and stuck it on the front), and we spray it in the closet and under the bed.

If your children are small, you may not be able to convince them that monsters are not real.  But using the spray can give them enough reassurance to get a good night's sleep, until they outgrow the "monsters under my bed" phase.

  21. Well I'm not a parent [I'm 17] and there really wasnt anything my mom could do to show me. I kinda had to come to that realization on my own and by my own will. I had to do the same thing with flushing the toilet. That scared me half to death lol. Anyway, I think one of the main things you can do is comfort them and let them know you'd never let anything happen to them. I know that every child is different and that's just how it helped me. Just a little side note, I hope someone gives you a more informative answer. =]

  22. Tell them if the bogey monster comes after them, they should tell him that their parent is (insert parent name here) because that parent beat up the Bogeyman when they were at school and the Bogeyman is still afraid of him.

  23. I remember that I was afraid of the shadows under my bed...So I would just run into my big sister's room (She is 6 years older than me).

  24. i dont have kids but when i was younger..i know this sound weird and im not the only kid who was afraid of this....but i was afraid of the toilet witch!!!!! my mom didnt know...and the older i got i kind of got over it...just give it time

  25. make them sleep in their own room, they won't get eaten by the boogeyman, and they'll realize that he's not real

  26. mine showed me there was no such thing

  27. letting them  sleep in your bed will not cure anything....it will only make them want to sleep with you forever...obviously they are scared of the boogey man in their room not yours so try sleeping in their room with them...try nightlighs...keep the door open...read a happy bedtime story before they go to sleep to install happy thoughts...move or get rid of anything in the room that may cast a "scary" shadow or image...turn the lights off yourself and use your imagination and look for things that may frighten them when they happen to wake up in the middle of the night and fix it....give them a "bodyguard" teddy bear and tell them the boogey man will not mess with them because the bear will protect them

  28. Maybe you can switch his attention to another object that will make him laugh or funny things.

  29. get their mind on something else. tell them something that amazes them so they dont have time to worry about the boogey man

  30. I always check everywhere in the room and leave a flashlight in their room.
