Parents against getting me glasses?

So yesterday I went to the eye doctor, and found out that I have -1.50 in both eyes! So when I was to choose glasses I declined to pick out the medicaid covered ones, I wanted to pay for Oakleys with my own money which I had with me they told me to come back on monday after the dilation drops wore off, the reason i need them is because of getting older thats what the doctor said. I need them to see the board and street signs clearly I have nearsightedness, I am 15. My parents are against me getting glasses because one of their friends told them i wont need them as one of his children had that and it went away when he was 18 the main thing is I need them so I can see at school! and my grades are constantly falling, but my parents reply is NO! What should I do?

  1. ok, technically, your parents have to get you them (if they have the money)

it is negelecting your childs needs if you dont get them glasses.

tell them that they shouldnt listen to there 'friend and they need to get off there asses and be fricken parents

    wtf is wrong with them!?!?!?

  2. So, let me get this straight....they will listen to a friend instead of the doctor. why did they do the doctor thing then.....just take the medicaid glasses and then do the oakly thing later, just know that doing a clear lense in sun glasses looks stupid most of the time.

  3. buy the 99 cent store glasses

  4. Call child protective services and tell them that your parents are refusing to get you glasses, which your doctor told you are medically necessary.

  5. If you have the money to pay for Oakleys then why are you on medicaid in the first place. If you are so ungrateful for the free ones myself and the other taxpayers will pay for then why should we feel sorry for you?

  6. You are allowed to have glasses, your doctor said so, its for your health.  Your parents are denying you the right to be healthy and to learn.

Tell Your parents their friend is not a doctor and that you cant see well in school, tell them the doc prescribed them for a reason. the same reason the prescribe medication

Call your doc and have them explain to your parents that your eyes can get worse if you dont correct it now..Seriously youre oging to be wearing bottle caps in 5 years

  7. Just go back to the doctor's office or wherever and just pay for them yourself.  Eyesight does NOT get better, especially nearsightedness. Farsightedness can get better, but not always. Stick up for yourself and your needs. If worst comes to worse, tell your teacher, your guidance counselor or go to your school nurse. Perhaps one of them can talk your parents into it.

  8. have your school counselor call your parents.
