I've always wanted to become vegitarian,I can't stand eating meat.Im 14,and I live in a meat eating family.I've tried everything possible to make them respect my wishes on becomming vegitarian, but they just yell at me and make me eat meat.there is nights where I sleep right before dinner on purpose so later in the night I can find food that I can eat,but when it comes time to where I must eat with them I have to eat the meat and im getting sick of it.

what ways can I make my parents respect my descion on wanting to doing something like this?

and if they still don't what ways can I keep up a vegitarian lifestyle somehow?

  1. They will never respect you or any of your choices if you go back on it now.

    You must persist.

    Refuse 100% to eat meat.

Read up on th subject so you can back up your belief.

    Kick up a fuss.

    Demand vegetarian alternatives.

Good luck, let me know how you get on. :)

  2. To become a vegetarian means you'll be omitting some sort of nutrition that only been found in meats such as protein and vitamin B12.  You're only 14 and still growing and that's why it cause your parents' concern.  If you really want to be a vegetarian, request to see a nutritionist and get more advise first.  The nutritionist also can create a menu for you to follow so you'll get the nutritions you need. Make follow up appointments with her/him.  You also need to learn how to calculate calorie intake and monitor your weight loss during the transition period. Supplemental vitamin pills might be needed, too.

    show them this

  4. maybe you could find some sort of documentary to show how cruel it is when we eat meat...I personally wish I was a vegetarian but i dnt like alot of other foods im really fussy aswell so i eat meat :s   good luck!

  5. You need to be as educated as possible and inform them either by talking or just putting papers up of the  benefits of being a veg head and damage done to animals by eatting meat. I've made alot of decisions that weren't the social norm and i've had to fight my way through it but it is worth it! If that doesn't help, talk to a doctor or ask someone like that to interveine and help you with your parents. I'm prego and people were like and you're a vegetarian! My doctor laughed and didn't blink an eye, she thinks it's great if done right! Just make sure you are supplementing right. Best of luck and keep us posted!

  6. Look, I'm a vegan, it didn't happen over night, but it also didn't happen with I was a teenager. Not being about to purchase, drive out to get them, and store your own food plays a major role in becoming a vegetarian or vegan. When I was your age I thought I'd change the world by becoming one, just know that it's a personal choice and nobody cares what you eat unless they can relate.

  7. I can really relate to your problem. I wanted to stop eating meat at a very young age, after seeing a chicken being slaughtered in a farm . I disagree with the person who said you need meat. Whatever your age,you can eat the right food and be a vegan,if so you choose. There is everything in nature,(even B12) and entire populations live all their lives without animal products.

But your problem is how to survive at home without constantly arguing with your parents about meat.

Difficult. Eat EVERYTHING ELSE first, behave like an angel otherwise, eat less and less often in front of them (find excuses, like that you are studying or have to do something...).

I know it's difficult, but if you behave like an adult, eventually they will respect you. One day you'll be older, move out and will

be able to eat whatever you want. Unfortunately, that's what I did.Good luck!

  8. I really understand you. When I decided to go vegetarian my mom thought I was crazy and she still does. Since the day I started I refused to eat meat 100%. At first it was really hard because everything she cooks has meat in it or lard. But I didn't give up. When food is served try not to be there and when they're done go back and make yourself something to eat. As for respect, I would sugest that you showed them this video http://www.meat.org/. They might not go Vegetarian but atleast they will understand you a little bit. Be persistant on what you want and they'll get tired of it and let you be. Also, these websites will help you out alot and you can show them some things that are there.

  9. I feel for you, my parents were agaisnt it at first too, i'm sorry!!  Try reasearching (if you havne't already) what your daily needs are without meat in your diet, then present it to them.  Or talk to them and see why they are SO against it.  I'm really sorry, I wish i could help you more!!!!

  10. 1st off sorry, I know exactliy how that feels. What I did was evan if there was meat in the meal, i would just eat around it, and it worked my mom relized i was not going to eat meat so....... she let me become a vegitarian. Good Luck.   PS: the planet and the animals thank you for wanting to be vegitarian.

  11. I understand your problem beacuse my parent is very against to my vegetarian choise!!!

my advice for you are: Wait because for our parent is no easy accept your choise!!!

    take thet time!!!

I'm Vegetarian from two yers old and my parent, now, accept my food style!!

    Good Lucky Byeeee

PS I'm sorry but I dont speak very well English

  12. I had been wanting to become a vegetarian for years and was unable to, because I really liked eating meat.   I still can't be a complete vegetarian but have stopped eating meat, and I still need some fishes.

To make sure that I have adequate protein, I eat and drink soy products such as soy juice, tofu, soy bean.  For the last 6 months since I have started this eating style, I found my health in perfect conditions and in fact healthier than before for less fat and cholesterol built up in my body.

I am really happy for you for your decision to become a vegetarian. I think your parents are just worried about you for not taking enough nutritions.  Show them the data if possible, if they still don't accept it, please them by eating some meat, I mean very very little meat just to show them that you are eating, but don't forget to consume enough proteins through other sources such as from soy products.

Someday in the future, when your parents have less authority over you, you will have the freedom to become a vegetarian as you want.  Don't be sad, it will happen sooner or later.

  13. Hmmm. This is definitely morally questionable. They should respect your right to choose how to live. First find out why they want you to eat meat. If it is for health reasons then do some research and calmly explain to them how you can live quite well without eating meat. If it is because of convenience(ie they don't want to prepare two meals) you might have to learn to cook. I prepare almost all my food within my house. However, I still believe that it is important to eat with your family. It is a tremendous time to connect with them.

  14. eat what you want
