  1. Have you ever noticed that anything the government gets involved with costs more and gets more complicated? And is administered by civil service folks who care nit about other people? Let's stick to parents and hold them accountable if they don't try.

  2. I don't know if this helps or not, but I am firmly against government censorship. In a free society (which we are supposed to have-sort of), the government should not be censoring anything. The first amendment guarantees the right to free speech. In my mind, this means the government should not censor. In a free society, parents can choose what their kids have access to. If they do not like a book, then they can tell their kid they cannot read it. However, just because one parent does not want their kid to read The Catcher in the Rye, that does not mean the government has the right to ban the book from libraries and such. It is not the government's place to do so. And that would not be fair to the people who want to check that book out from the library. And parents could be better censors anyway, because they know their children, the government doesn't. (Or at least they should know their children.) My parents knew whether I was mature enough mentally to read Stephen King at age 13, for instance. Maybe some other kids are not mature enough to do so. So anyway, I feel that parents would be better censors. Well, I've rambled, but that's my thoughts on the subject. I hoped it helped a little. I personally think this stance and the reasons I've touched on would be the easiest to defend, by the way. And I minored in speech in college and aced my debate course, just to let you know that I do know a little bit about debating.

  3.   This question should be asked in the category of 'Education & Reference' and in the subcategory of 'Homework Help'.  It belongs there.

  4. That is a very good question for here because.

{try to terse ie short and to the point ]

In your school there are probably many things that you disagree with. Books in the library you must read and must they won't stack for starters.

What input did parents have in those decistions probably none--local school booard-gov.

The govacts in the intrest of PCism and special intrest, maybe one person complained about a certasin book.

To much homework n\relys on the net-we know what pops up there,

and that's up to the parents because the gov thinks therer should be no restrictions on the net

Unfortunantly a lot of parents are out if the loop o r are to busy to oversee what their child is into.

Fortunantly most kids know whats right and whats wrong so in the end they explore and somehow censor them selves.

Being 'hands on' parents can give better guidance-not censorship- than gov

The gov functions by spending money not by actually doing anything.

They can come up with a list of guidelines and those at the local leval often use them as a starting point or diregard them alltogether.so their effectiness is questioable.

So if you have to take the side that parents are better your task will be easier

just look at you and friend and observe you parents 'guidance on you vrs the gov-includingthe school-which is governmental

From a political stand point ypu'll have to decide if your liberal or conservative and the liberal arument will probably win because thats what most people want to hear.

Welcome to the world -don't let it scare you.
