So, its my Jr Year in high school coming up

I've played football since i was in 3rd grade I've played football 7 years! I am kind of burnt out and want to take 1 year off!

I want to focus on SAT's, SAT subject tests, And my 4 AP classes! + i still have an injured knee from last season

My parents say "we are going to make you play, because if you don't play, you will regret it later in life".

Is this right of them to do that?

I'm burnt out!

  1. I'm not gonna lie, if you do quit you probably will regret it for the rest of your life.  I played football line men and I was pretty good, I was a starter and after some years playing I got kinda bored of playing and I quit.  now looking back I wish I never would have quit, it was alot of fun traveling to far away games with your team and doing all that kinda stuff.

  2. I think you should listen to them. Scholarships!!!!!!

  3. I don't think it's right. But that doesn't help you much in convincing your parents. Can you get a counselor to talk to them, or perhaps a favorite aunt or uncle? Or maybe your doctor, if the knee's really serious. If not, think of all your reasons and try communicating them directly to your parents again. Maybe write them a letter, so they can see all your reasons without interrupting you, as so often happens when you talk to someone face to face. Good luck and best wishes.

  4. No, it's not right. They can't FORCE you to do anything you don't want to do. If they won't listen to you, do what you want to do. It maybe good for you in the end.

  5. Thats definatly not right. Its should be YOUR choice to do what you think is good for YOU; not them.

Just try to explain to them that you don't want to play.

You want to focus on your school work.

Explain that you just want a year of break & that if you regret NOT playing.. then you will play next year.

Be sure to tell them that whether or not you play football isn't going to help you get a career, unless you're planning on being in the NFL .. But getting good grades in high school will,

    :)

  6. they are just looking out for you even though they are going about it all wrong... it should be your choice... they should not make you but try to convince because its your life and its not bad to want to focus on your studies, oh and props for the 4ap classes goodjob

  7. No it's not right. Just don't attend practice and get kicked off the team, that's what I'd do lol

  8. They want you to stay on the team so that you do not risk losing your spot. They want you to win a football scholarship to college. If you injury is still bothering you, it is best to continue to show dedication to the team. Sports look great on a college application even if you aren't going for a sports college scholarship. THey are only thinking for the best for you. Sacrifice something else to succeed on the SATs and your AP classes. If you have 0 extra curriculars, it will hinder your applications.

  9. 1) You don't have an AA as you CAN'T receive a degree from a degree granting institution without a GED or a HS Diploma (even if you had the 60 credits, the institution wouldn't confer the degree).

    2) If you don't want to play, then don't play.  Don't make it onto the team, throw the try out, tell the coach you'll literally hand the ball to the other team. Tell your parents that you've made up your mind and that you won't be playing.

  10. tell you coach that your knee is still injuried and that you want to take the year off so that it is fully heeled for your senior year and then ask your coach to talk to your parents. your health is more important. and all the stress isnt good for you
