Alirght, Im 17 and was home alone over a weekend to go to a few grad parties, I want a few PARENTAL oponions on this one, no low baller teenagers.

Knowing that my parents keep a bottle of Vodka in the house Late at night I decided to try a wee bit, no I didn't get drunk and yes I am to "Lightweight" to even think about doing any more than I did, overall about a shot's worth.

Anyways, now I'm feeling increadiblly guilty about it, knowing that they trusted me and I managed to BS so they still think that nothing happened. They don't use the Vokda much so they wouldn't be able to tell if I let it go.

Should I tell them? How should I tell them?

What would you do if your son/daughter willingly told you they expirememnted with alchol(sp?).

  1. Not a parent, but they'll probably appreciate your honesty. If you took about a shot's worth, that's hardly anything. They shouldn't be mad. Not sure if you're graduating, but if you are, they know you'll be exposed to alcohol in college in a few months anyway (assuming college is in your future). If not, they know that it was bound to happen sometime anyways.

If you're really feeling that guilty, you're best off just telling them because you won't have that over your head anymore. Your punishment will probably be pretty light, not nearly as bad as the guilt.

As far as how to tell them, just tell them. Don't make a big deal of it in your own mind and it'll be easier. Good luck.

  2. Well in the days of the dinosaurs we didn't have very good fermented beverages so we didn't imbibe in the consumption of vodka................hahahaha

When I was younger "back in the day" we experimented also but not as frequently as teenagers today.

It is normal to want to find out for yourself what alcohol tastes like but you shouldn't make a practice of it because as you know every action has a consequence that follows it.

The guilt you are feeling is the consequence for doing that behind your parents back.  If indeed it was only a "shot" then leave that "can of worms" alone because it will hurt your parents deeply feeling you can't be trusted if they leave you alone again.  Now from your experiment you have learned a very important lesson.

    hope this helped.               good luck

  3. I'm a parent and I'd appreciate the honesty.  Don't forget we were all teenagers once and understand more than you think.  Anyway, if all my kid did was try a little vodka at 17, I'd feel like I had a great kid.  Good luck!
