  1. That's a lot of pressure you're putting on yourself Catie.

Don't blame yourself--or feel as if you have to fix this.  This stuff happens.  You can help out more by doing more chores around the house.  Perhaps dedicate a portion of your day to helping both your mom and dad.

If you need money for clothes ask relatives/neighbors if you can do chores for them--like mow their lawn.  Getting a paper route is another good idea.

Also, when you buy clothes, go for a few cheaper versions that won't cost as much.  You don't need your socks to say Nike.

    Hope this helps

  2. I'm sure they aren't mad at each other, it's just hard on a household when money is tight. It's not your fault. You are lucky to have such an awesome mom who was there for you while you were in the hospital. See if you can talk to friends of yours and maybe you can go "shopping" in their closets for some of their clothes they don't wear anymore to get you started. I lost everything in a house fire in high school and most all of my friends donated clothes to me. It was awesome and greatly appreciated. I'm sure they will understand and be willing to help you.

  3. Here are some ideas that you may try:

    1. Ask your school principal to hold a fundraiser for students at your school in financial trouble.

    2. Ask for clothing donations anonymously through your school.

    3. Ask for assistance from a local public agency such as Goodwill.

    4. Ask your school to hold a bake sale where pies and cakes are raffled off to help students pay for school expenses.

    5. Contact a private source such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for possible assistance.

    Good luck!

  4. go around your neighborhood, and ask (or leave flyers) if there is any work you could do (lawn, garden, babysitting, etc.)...

  5. Sorry for your situation

Is your health improved?  Can you do odd jobs, babysitting, lawn mowing?

Try to earn some money for yourself

As to clothing, try resale shops such as Salvation Army, Goodwill, Plato's Closet where you can get good clothing at greatly reduced rates. . .takes more time looking through stuff and trying it on than a new store, but can be Fun and Lots cheaper.

Did you meet social worker while in hospital?  Most schools have social workers, too.  Talk to worker, explaining your situation, letting them know that you are concerned because your hospitalization has created debts and burdens for your parents and you need part-time employment and new school clothes.  They should be able to guide you to some help.

    Best of Luck
