Parents not allowing belly button piercing at 13????

Question

I have wanted my belly button pierced for ages and may choice has no affect on whether its "in" or not. My parents are only saying no because they think im to young. but i know i will look after it ect... and i dont care about the pain it doesn't affect my decision. please tell me things that say im a right age and i know the consiquences ect... to try to get one... thnks and please dont keep on saying your to young

Hi know it probably wont help but one point to consider is if the piercing goes wrong in any way.

I got mine done at 14 (behind my parents backs) and did not realise but had a reaction to the belly bar, even though i cleaned it really well twice a day, i was allergic to the metal. As a consequence it went septic and had to be removed. It did heal but once i fell pregnant, years later, it stretched and i had horrible red stretch marks and slight bleeding under the skin (as the scarred skin did not stretch). Overall i was left with an obvious scar above my belly button.

Oh the other hand my friend had hers done at the same time and still wears hers now (and we are in our late 20's now!).

Just a point i thought you should consider also in deciding whether to have it done.

you are way to young to get this done.. you are only thirteen years old, just turned a teenager.. your still a child  . why would you want to get your belly button pierced.

why do so many yound children want to grow up so fast .. you have al the time in the world , you can get it pierced when your 17 , 18 , not 13 years old

hmm well i'm not sure if your parents are saying no because they're afraid that it'll get infected or something.  i'm sure they know that you can take care of it.  they're probably more afraid that you'll look like a **** and that you'll get "bad attention."

i think you should try bargaining with them.  i'm a little older than you and when i wanted something i would bargain with them. tell them you'll do some chores or say that you'll get really good grades for the piercing or something. maybe if you do well in school, they'll do it as a reward? i think that giving them a speech about being mature might or might not work.

p.s. you sound really really shocked that your parents won't allow you to get the piercing at age 13. you don't need that many ? marks...it is way too young for that kind of piercing.

I Dont Think Your To Young To Have Your Belly Button Pierced. Im 15 And Got Mine Done About 7 Weeks Ago Now. My Mum Was Happy To Let Me Have Mines Done But I Dont Understand Why Your Parents Arn't Letting You. You Seem Really Mature About It Cus You Understand That You Have To Look After Ect... I Have Seen People Who Are Only 11 Or 12 Getting It Done So Your Definatly Not To Young, But If You Want It Done And Your Under 16, You Have To Take A Parent With You. Explain To Your Parents How Much You Really Want It Done And That You Understand You Have To Look After It Ect. Also Tell Them That Its Not Sore, It Only Stings For About 3 Seconds, Incase Their Worried About The Pain Aspect Of It :)

Well to be honest you are to young. I pierced mine by myself at 15 cuz i wanted it so bad and i almost passed out. At 13 though it's just not worth it. Go for something else like your cartilage. Your parents just don't want their daughter looking like a w***e at 13. Give it time. If you want it bad enough you can wait. Or if you want it bad enough then just take the consequences for getting it done anyway.

you are too young, im 15 and my parents won't let me. sorry but 13 is too young, i know someone who got theirs pierced when they were 12 before they went through puberty, and it streched because she became more curvy in puberty and now its scarred. your parents are saying this because they care about you and dont want you to get hurt, to be honest you should stop trying to grow up so fast.

You could try offering to pay for it yourself, printing off pages on health risks and how to stop infections afterwards (shows them you are mature enought o know the risks) and try to come to a compromise. Offer to walk your dog every day, or wash the car a couple of times if they let you get it done.

Tell them that if they don't let you get it done now, when you need their signiture, you'll be even quicker to do it when you are 16 and you don't need them. And when you are doing it yourself, you might choose the cheapest, most unprofessional and unclean place. At least they have some control if they let you do it now.

Well, you have to prove to your parents that you're mature enough to get it done. The reason your parents won't let you is b/c it's seen as a s*x symbol and they don't want you to turn out like a w***e!! haha- but on a serious note, you need to put together a speech that shows your parents why you really want to get it done. Give examples like: self expression, and that it's better than getting a tattoo. try to bargain with them. For instance, if you get straight A's on your next report card would they be willing to let you get it done? Be persistant. Eventually they'll cave.

you sort of have to see from their perspective though..

your 13 which is pretty young

but if your reallly reallly sure then be mature about it don't sulk if they say no just wait abit ... sit them down and go through all the points

let them know how responsible you are say to them this will show them how mature you are
