I have opened a board for parents who want to discuss with other parents with ADHD children who understand and dont critisize and judge the method of treatment you use. It can be hard and I wanted to start a board where parents could go where they can share and feel comfortable with others knowing what they are going through. Please yahoo me or email me for sight information. Ive also started a Support Group in yahoo groups as well.

  1. It's not just about putting your child on medication. I have changed my child's diet and she still needs some help to concentrate. I don't feel I am "drugging" my child, but helping her to be able to learn and have a semi-normal life. I would not give her something that I feel is harming her. I have tried a couple different medicatations and I like the one she is on now. Just because someone doesn't understand the problem doesn't mean that help is not needed.

  2. The very last thing I wanted to do was "drug my children", however, I have an autistic child who I went ahead and tried an ADHD medication on. The results were wonderful! He was suddenly able to focus on what he was doing... whether or not it was play time, or an educational computer game, and even better able to handle play time with other children. He was still moving a mile a minute in between things, but he was so much happier doing so. And, all of a sudden, he kept bringing us books to read to him. And would actually sit down, and listen to the book, and point at the pictures, etc. He was just all around happier.

I don't give my kids sodas and candy bars, and I don't know what all else all day long. Actually, their favorite snacks are the apples, and bananas, and carrots, and anything else that I can't keep stocked in the fruits and veggies drawers in our refridgerator. How exactly do you go about taking all the dyes and stuff out of their diet?
