The pro-choicer asked this question:

"Why anyone would not want to abort a "defective" fetus is beyond my understanding?"

So why didn't you abort your "defective fetuses"? Can you give us any understanding?

  1. All kids are defective, in the sense that none of them are perfect. I mean, what's she saying? That I should have aborted my daughter because she is shortsighted, and my son because he has a stutter? Those are defects, aren't they?

The pro-choicer really hasn't thought through what they said, IMO. It seems most unlikely that that's what they actually meant.

  2. So, say you have a "non - defective" child...everything's going fine, then at the age of 4 he/she falls or has some other horrible accident that leaves him/her paralyzed or mentally handicapped.  Would you want to throw the child away at that point?  Probably not, since, despite the fact the your child is "defective" (not sure I'm crazy with the use of that term but I'll go with it for now), he/she is still your child and you love him/her.  The same would be true for a child with downs.

  3. There are no gaurantees that you will end up with a "non defective" child.  My pregnancy and ultrasounds were all normal, but I had a really traumatic delivery with my son and he was born with cerebral palsy and several other learning disabilities.  I don't love him any less than my other children...in fact, I may love him MORE because of his disabilities.

Should I have told the hospital that I didn't want a "defective" child???

I chose not to have fetal testing because I would accept and love my children as God made them........perfect in every way!

just so you know the use of the term "defective" is so revolting to me, but I used it, as you did, to answer your question.

  4. Why would you want to abort a child who can still have a long happy life?  I am and always will be pro-life to the fullest.  I didn't even have the fetal testing done for those things because sure they let you know before hand but does that change how the baby will be?  No.   I choose to love my children anyways, defects or not.

It amazes me that people still sit there and don't even acknowledge the baby as a baby.  It's a living human being with ears, arms, legs, internal organs, eyes, a mouth, a nose....all the essentials for being human.  Why would you want to abort something so precious?  How do you know that God does not have great plans for that baby?

And what if by some chance your child is in an accident that turns them into a "defective" child?  Say they are paralyzed for life or they become brain dead.  Will you get rid of that child too?
