Parents of boys please?

Question

Do you have to pull a boys f******n back when they get to a certain age or do they discover how themselves, my husband can't remember !!!! Thanks. ( my son is 2yrs 8 mths.)

No I have never pulled my 5 year olds f******n back, I think that is something they should do themselves. If they are in a bath regularly I dont think there should be any problems. My son pulls his back quite often and it looks ok to me!

It is at a certain age but I think he is too young still. Please ask your Dr. and have him show you how to do it. You don't want to hurt the baby.

Some doctors tell you to pull it back and wash it yourself so that they get used to what to do but my son is 4 yrs old and i have never been told to do this.  My boy had discovered everything about his bits on his own (and sometimes you cant stop him rediscovering it all again!) so ive never had to do that.

Hun i have to be honest if your child has a bath regular like Thomas always has done i have never had to do this at all and he has never had a problem, also Thomas is still in nappies and he has never had any sort of infection or soreness i was told it cleans its self and i would never try to force a child's f******n, when Thomas was ill and as you know Thomas is 10 and has autism so he cannot tell us whats wrong when he had a medical the doctor in fact looked and pulled back his f******n and it was clean and i have never cleaned underneath, so i would get a medical opinion about this rather than just do it

Dont do it before they are 5 years old, or you can damage the f******n.

It will eventually be able to be pulled back, but the child normally does this theirselves while going for a wee.

I was told when my son was about a month old to start pulling his f******n back a little bit each diaper change. The doctor said she had a case where a little boys f******n was never pulled back and had to have a major corrective surgery to correct it. I never hurt him, jus a lil pull after diaper changes. Now he pulls his f******n back his self to wash it . He just turned 3 in June. I supervise to make sure he gets it clean. If not washed a white stuff that looks like vernix on a newborn builds up around the bottom of the head. It has to be cleaned or they can get an infection.

dont worry he will find out him self boys at some point always discover their p***s and find out everything .......quite often!

Yes you do have to teach them how, I used to do it while they were in the bath I would soap their hands get them to put the soap on their privates and gently VERY GENTLE pull the skin back this doesn't need to be every day just when it appears to be to far over or stuck.  If it won't come back don't false it seek professional doctor/nurse advice.

I didn't do it to my son but our French au pair girl knew all about that stuff and soon had him thoroughly washed in that department. She also pulls it back for him when he pees (yes, she still aims it for him too)
