  1. I think it means all the difference in the success of the child.  When teacher and parent are working together - you can almost guarantee success.

  2. They are important. If the teacher likes you and have good communication with you they are willing to have a little more patience with your child. If the teacher dislikes you, they have a harder time connecting with your child. It also helps in keeping communication open so the teacher can share small concerns before they become big ones and be comfortable to briefly tell you the cute things your child did as well. Most children are in preschool more hours than they are home on a weekday. Therefore the teacher knows them and their "at preschool" personality much better than you do, all kids are different at school than they are at home. That parent-teacher relationship is going to decide how much you will know about your "at preschool" child!!

  3. They are very important as previous answers addressed. It is possible for a teacher/parent to not get along and for the teacher to still do an excellent job with the child.

Parents need to support teachers and teachers need to respect parents. Education is a three legged stool parent/teacher/child.

  4. It is critical.  As a teacher, my job is to keep an open communication with parents, keep them updated on what their child is doing, and answer any questions they may have.  I am also responsible to educate the parents on the Montessori Method.

  5. parent - teacher relationships are the greatest things when you can establish them!  Especially having children in the younger grades you should know what your child is doing and how your child is progressing.  I understand that we live in a very busy world today but these are your children and they deserve the best.
