  1. I would explain to them why they are wrong.

Teenagers love to pretend these things.  That's why they dress as vampires, practice "wicca", play with Ouija boards, etc.  I went through the same phase myself, as did most kids.

  2. It is amazing how fast parents think they completely understand what their teen may have just experienced.  I shelved all of that "When I was a kid" stuff because today is NOT the same as 1960, physically, emotionally or spiritually.  I paused - - then sincerely asked him to try to explain the situation.  I listened with no comment as he talked.  I asked him his take on the event.  I listened some more.  He was then ready to ask me my input.  I answered respectfully and sincerely with no downer or guilt trips.  We explored together.  He is now in college taking pre seminary classees.  We grew closer because of the exchange.

  3. Whatever the subject, I hope I would be good enough of a friend and hear my young one out.

  4. They're either seeing things, manifested in their own mind, or lying.
