hi ...my 4 year old son is receiving special services for speech i was wondering if he can qualify for SSI or other??

  1. That actually depends. If his speech delay is serious enough for him to be in a special needs class full time like a non categorical preschool class where he would get speech class all day alongside his other curriculum then he may very well qualify for ssi. But if he is just receiving speech services two of three times a week in a regular classroom then no he will not qualify.

  2. Basically, this is not a disability that is serious enough to qualify for SSI. The speech problem that would be covered under SSI would be loss of speech. Unless it is that serious, it is most likely not going to be considered.

  3. It's very doubtful.  SSI is for people who have severe disabilities.  If everyone who received speech services also got SSI we'd be bankrupt and nearly every parent would want their child tested.
