Parents really want me to do cross country conditioning. I don't. Help?

My parents really want me to do a summer cross country program where you do conditioning. I don't do cross country & I have no

interest in doing it at all. They said they want me to do it and if I

don't like it, then I don't have to do cross country. I'm not even good at running. And I really, really don't want to do it.

What are some good argumentative points on my side so I can convince my parents not to make me do it?

  1. sorry girly, running is good for you, theres no points against it. They are giving you freedom by saying you dont have to stick with he team if you dont enjoy summer training, and thats awesome. Suck it up, have a good attitude and just try it. Who knows, you may like it, but if you dont-at least you made your parents happy which always helps in the long run(pardon the pun!)

  2. Maybe tell them there is another sport you would like to try instead of cross country.

Say that running hurts your knees or causes you pain somehow.

Say that youd rather just hit the gym instead of doing a cross country program.

Say that cross country training is overwhelming for you and you really rather not or would want to do something else.

Say that you really just don't like cross country and don't want to do it and that if they loved you they wouldnt push you so much to do something that you didn't want to do.

Throw some tears in there and you will be golden.

  3. Running increases your risk of falling in a large, bottomless pit

Running can make women more attractive-to rapists and burglars

Running teaches a habit of leaving problems behind instead of facing them

Everyone picks on the cross country kids

You can't go pro in running through the woods-you're better off reading a book

With the amount of toxins in the air, we're better off staying inside and meditating

    Cross country sucks

  4. i know you dont want to hear it but xc is a lot of fun and has sooo many advatages... but if really dont want to do it, which is a big loss im my oppion, you could tell them there are other things you want to focus on. or just flat out tell them you have no intrest in it. you could also pull out the scarey fact that it can cause joint problems when you get old. but you really should run xc!

  5. Are you allowed to quit if you want to?  Cause maybe you can try it, then if you truly hate it, then quit.  Then your parents will see that you gave it a try but really didn't like it.   Or an argumentative point could be that maybe you could try running just for fun.  Tell them that a few times a week you will go out for a run when you want to.

  6. im all for cross country so im not help. but, i was on the team, nobody picks on you.
